We’re looking for a Communications and Marketing Assistant to join our dynamic communications and marketing function, to ensure we help reach everyone affected by spinal cord injury over the next few years.

On a day-to-day basis, you will help to deliver our e-newsletter programme, grow our social media presence, and help reach more people affected by spinal cord injury. You’ll be our lead content creator, keeping on top of the latest online trends and ensuring our Social Media and website content remains engaging and expands our audience. You will also act as a brand guardian for the organization, increase Back Up’s profile, and work cross-departmentally to optimize our Comms.

Responsibilities

  • Keep the content of Back Up’s new website up-to-date and work with the Communications Manager to develop and the site in a way that is clear, sustainable and SEO friendly
  • Day-to-day, act as the central point to co-ordinate Back Up’s social media presence and engage with our key audiences
  • Act as a brand guardian and ensure that other team members are using our fonts, colours and other brand elements correctly, offering help and guidance as needed
  • Collect and monitor analytics regularly for website, e-Newsletters, and social media to improve reach, content and engagement
  • Organise and diversify Back Up’s video and photo library to ensure they meet the needs of our team and the communications strategy
  • Work with colleagues to produce and distribute our monthly e-newsletters on Mailchimp including sourcing content, editing and writing articles and designing
  • Organise quarterly meetings, with support from the Communications Manager, to review the e-newsletter process and report back on statistics and learnings to the wider team
  • Design and produce leaflets and work with professional designers and printers to produce other publications and assets according to Back Up’s brand guidelines
  • Organise Back Up’s communications and social media calendars and follow relevant processes
  • Monitor photo consent forms and ensure that the team are up to date on photo policy
  • Interview people who are willing to share their stories and build up a library of case studies
  • Proof read and edit information, publications and articles and organise distribution where required
  • Support services and fundraising teams with day-to-day communications, marketing and PR needs
  • Work with the Communications Manager to deal with media enquiries, draft and distribute press releases, keeping records of press coverage and contacts
  • Carry out research as part of process of developing the communications strategy
  • Other duties as required by the Communications and Marketing Manager and Chief Executive
